Searching for a job as an international student is tiresome, depressing and annoying. You can add any words you want to this list. Yes, I knew how hard it was, when I was looking for one when I came here. It becomes more hard especially when you do not have any guidance or reference.

Don’t worry persistence and determination always win. I had implemented these two attributes; I was able to find job in a month without any reference. Guidance by someone always help to secure job quicker than without it. I will also provide some tips that I have applied to find job quickly.

Here are some of the companies that offer part time and full time jobs to international students.

1. Mcdonalds

This is the famous fast food outlet for students who wants to work while studying. This also employs students under the age of 18.

McDonalds’s has over 900 stores in Australia. They employ about 90,000 people across Australia and serves million customers a day. This means that you have a better scope to earn part time job in this company. They recruit students as front staff, kitchen hand and store management staff.

There is a 3 step recruiting process for this company, first you need to fill out an application form (selecting 10 stores at a time) by completing a short quiz with multiple questions. This helps them to understand the position in their team that suits you best. Second step is interview which is communicated to you via email.

Red Rooster is another company that has opportunities all around the year for students. This company started in 1972 with 360 plus stores Australia wide. So it is a good sign that they have openings for new staff.

Since then, there is no look back for its growth. It has over 600 restaurants spread across the country with 34,000 employees in stores and corporate office.

There is no specific application process advised by the company. So it is applying through the website and waiting for the reply. This company has jobs all across the year. It is worth giving a try.

4. Hungry Jacks

This is an Australian company started in Perth in 1971. This has more than 420 restaurants located across Australia with 19,000 staff. It is popular for recruiting students from all walks of life. The best thing is you have a corporate ladder if you want to grow within the company. Starting from crew member to state operations lead. It is a good opportunity you can develop relevant skills while you are studying full time or part time.

This is one of my favorite fast food places in Australia. It has its own unique taste that satisfies the spicy taste buds. It has started in the year 1986 by a Portuguese immigrant.

Oporto has recognised as one of the fastest growing food franchises in Australia. Compared to the above companies, these stores have their presence only in popular places. The jobs are advertised on regular basis; it is always good to keep an eye on these opportunities here.

6. Guzmen Y Gomez

This company is quite young compared to other fast food restaurants in Australia. It has opened its first store in 2006 and spread across Australia in no time. It employs about 3,000 staff across its stores. It has openings to students across the year. It would be a great opportunity to work and grow with the company. Find the jobs here.

7. Nandos

Nandos is an international food chain that originated in South Africa in 1987. This restaurant offers Portugese style peri-peri chicken with its own unique taste. It is another company that you can apply and get a job while you are studying full time or part time.

10. Pizza Hut

Last but not the least. Pizza Hut is another largest pizza chain in Australia next to Dominos. Almost every suburb and major street has Pizza Hut stores across Australia. And also a job is posted every day for a team member or Drivers. So don’t miss out checking their site on daily basis. There is an application process of applying jobs on their website that suits your availability, complete an online quiz. Tips to get the job quickly

The above companies are large in scale in terms of stores and sales, so apply to these companies on daily basis when you see an opportunity, until you get a job.
Always broaden your search to more locations. This helps you to get job quickly than in your local store.
Provide your exact availability that you can make it when you have a job. This lasts a good impression on the employer or the manager for fixed part time job.
Physically visit the store, develop rapport with the staff and show your expression of interest to work. This helps for better outcome.
Look for locations that has less number of students around the area. For example, look for locations where universities, TAFE and Schools are not close by. They have more vacancies than other locations. So this makes your job easy. After you secure the job, you can move to closer locations internally.
